Case Study
Sam Ferguson,
SID
Sports Systems can be described in three words
- A TIME SAVER! During the Dixie Conference Baseball Tournament,
which Averett hosted, I was able to compose a release, load it to the
Sports Systems website, view the document, and then broadcast the fax within
a couple of minutes. On my follow-up calls to media outlets I would
tell them to expect a fax, and more times than not the reporters would
respond with an, "I have already received it, and I am reading it
right now."
Last year faxing was a bit of a problem at the
tournament. Once the late game ended, it was another 30 minutes or
more after composing the release that the last fax number was dialed.
Reporters were pressed to include the story in their publications, as they
battled deadlines. It also made late hours for me, as I manually
dialed each fax number and waited for the documents to pass through the fax
machine.
Sports Systems eliminated that problem for me
this year. I set up a list of media outlets for each team
involved. Following each contest, I would load the release to the
system, then choose the list that represented the teams playing in that
particular game. Within minutes the broadcast was underway, and each
of the outlets were receiving the fax simultaneously.
As an SID at the Division III level, I am
usually the one doing the post game faxing, since I have no assistant to
take care of it for me. Many late hours after basketball games have
been spent in the office entering one number at a time into the fax machine.
Thankfully, those days are over. Sports Systems Services is my new
assistant in charge of post-game faxing.
Thanks again,
Sam Ferguson
