Brian Binette
Vice President of Marketing
Brian joined Sports Systems in December 2002 to lead
the company’s marketing efforts. His daily responsibilities center on customer service for
the company’s collegiate clients.
In his time at Sports Systems, Brian has
led the company's online credentialing efforts in the bowl and college
conference areas. Sports Systems is the online credentialer for
28 of the 32 postseason bowl games in 2006-07 and is the Official Online
Credentials Provider of the Bowl Championship Series. Also, more than
10 conferences utilize the PressPass system for championship events,
including the Pac-10, Big 12, SEC, ACC and the BIG EAST, and PressPass is utilized by the NCAA to conduct online credentialing for the NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Championships first and second rounds, regionals and Final Four.
Brian came to Sports Systems
after a 19-year career at the University of South Carolina, the last 16 as
assistant sports information director. In his time at Carolina, Brian handled media operations
for men’s basketball and coordinated publicity for many other Gamecock
sports. Brian was the
department’s computer liaison and was the Internet Manager in his last year
at Carolina. He served as the
media director of numerous conferences and NCAA post-season events held on
the USC campus. In 1999, the Football Writers Association of America judged
Brian's game-day football press box operations at Williams-Brice Stadium
"Best in the Nation".
Brian earned more than 30
national or regional publications' awards in his time at USC, including a
pair of “Best in the Nation” honors.
He earned his Bachelor of
Arts degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations from the
University of South Carolina in 1988, one year after taking over full-time
duties in the USC sports information office where he began his career as a
student in 1984.
Brian remains active in the
media relations industry, serving on the media staffs for the 2005 and 2006 Men's
Final Fours, the 2005 (FedEx Orange Bowl), 2006 (Rose Bowl) and 2007 BCS National
Championship games, the 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl, and several SEC Football Championship
Games and Men's Basketball Championship Tournaments.
Brian and his wife,
Peggy, have three children, Daniel, Patrick and Matthew, and reside in
Columbia, S.C.
