This year's Football Bowl Association Annual meetings are approaching and I welcome each Bowl to join us beginning Wednesday, April 25 through Friday, April 27 at The Marriott Harbor Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The FBA hotel room block reservation deadline is Monday, April 2 so please complete the online registration and reserve your hotel rooms prior to that date. All Bowl attendees are invited to the social events on the agenda as part of your FBA membership with the exception of the Executive Directors & CCA/BCS Reception on Thursday which is limited to Bowl Executive Directors and one guest.
Attached, above, is the 2012 FBA Annual Meeting Agenda. Please note that this schedule could potentially change and will be updated periodically. Please visit the FBA website for the most current schedule.
Please note that any Bowl that brings more than four (4) representatives to the meetings will be charged a flat fee upfront of $250 per additional person to defray the costs of the hospitality and meals.
In making your travel plans, please be aware that there will be a welcome lunch on Wednesday followed by Marketing and Events meetings that afternoon and the ESPN and ABC bowls should note that their business meeting will be held Wednesday as well, prior to the reception. Check the agenda for time and location. We do encourage you to stay through Thursday night to attend the Bowl Dinner.
As in recent years we are inviting all of the Conference Commissioners to attend the meetings and giving them the option to meet individually with each of their bowl partners for the bowl games to be played at the conclusion of the 2012 college football season. Check with your affiliated conference to see if they plan to meet with you.
And as we have done in the past, a Trade Show featuring products and services from a wide range of exhibitors will be held on Wednesday, April 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the opening reception, as well as, during breakfast and lunch on Thursday, April 26. Vendors may also schedule breakout meetings with bowls on their own Thursday afternoon. We encourage all of you to do your best to visit the vendors throughout the week and show your appreciation for their participation.
Jim McVay and the Outback Bowl team are currently soliciting the Sponsors and Exhibitors who participated in 2011 to join us again in 2012, as well as, reaching out to new potential partners. If you have any new exhibitors interested in becoming a Trade Show vendor please direct them to www.SportsSystems.com/FBATradeShow. Potential sponsors that would be interested in underwriting opportunities in conjunction with our meetings should contact Mike Schulze at the Outback Bowl at (813) 874-2695 or via email at mike@outbackbowl.com.
We look forward to the opportunity to once again come together and discuss ideas for the year and thank Eric Poms and the Discover Orange Bowl staff for hosting this year’s meetings. Also thanks to the individuals from many of the other bowls who are helping to coordinate the many logistics and activities.
If you have any other questions about this year's meeting, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 702-732-3912. And, be sure to visit the FBA website at www.footballbowlassociation.com for additional information about the FBA.
